Virginia Louise “Ginger” Johnson

Virginia Louise “Ginger” Johnson, 85, of Chrisman, Illinois, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at Carriage Crossing Senior Living in Arcola, Illinois. She was retired after many years with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Paris DMV Office. She also found reward in her work as a devoted farm wife.
She was born March 24, 1937, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of the late Bert Carl and Elspeth L. (Logeman) Lund. She married Larry Kenneth Johnson on July 29, 1956, at Chrisman United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2013.
Survivors include three daughters, Pamela (Gary) Schoedel of Peoria, Illinois, Vicki Johnson (Karen Tharp) of Baker City, Oregon, and Sheri (Roger) Smith of Covington, Indiana; two granddaughters, Emily (Bob) Achtstatter of Naperville, Illinois, and Shae Dwyer (Darrin Foulk) of Huntersville, North Carolina; two great-granddaughters, Lily and Anna Achtstatter; a sister-in-law, Betsy Lund of Chrisman; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Carl Lund.
Mrs. Johnson was an active and dedicated member of Chrisman United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities.
She enjoyed being a member of United Methodist Women and the church choir for many years. Ginger was also a member of the Chrisman Community Club.
She was fiercely proud of her family and her community, and she seldom missed an opportunity to support or encourage them.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Chrisman United Methodist Church or to the Chrisman Community Club.
Services celebrating her life were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Chrisman United Methodist Church with the Reverend Randall Shepard officiating.
Burial followed in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Templeton Funeral Home of Paris is in charge of arrangements.
