Varsity Lady Cards Fall to Marshall & Hut/Pal

On November 15th, the Chrisman Lady Cardinals hosted the Lady Lions of Marshall. With Chrisman having smaller numbers, the junior varsity only played the first half.
In the first quarter, Chrisman’s Taylor Jones and Adaleyn Miller tied up the game for the Cardinals with a score of 6-6. In the second, Marshall sank shot after shot, resulting in a 19-11 loss for the JV Lady Cardinals.
For Chrisman, Taylor Jones led with six points. Jaidyn Alexander and Adaleyn Miller each had two points. Sabrina Boyer finished the game with one point.
For Marshall, Marlee Heighton led with six points, followed by Lynn Welborn with four and Avery Cornwell with three. Tuesday Pearce, Abigail Davis and Bailey Murphy each had two points.
In the first quarter of the Varsity match up, Chrisman was held scoreless as Marshall’s Mya Clark, Adi Scott, Libby McFarland and Zara Engledow put the Lady Lions in the lead 16-0
In the second quarter, the Lions continued to dominate as they led 29-6 going into halftime. Marshall would continue to ground the Lady Cardinals and dominate the court as they eventually came away with a 53-8 victory over Chrisman.
For Chrisman, Alivia Brinkley led with four points, followed by Taylor Jones with three and Addison Phipps with one.
For Marshall, Adi Scott led with twelve points, followed by Mya Clark with eleven and Marlee Heighton with eight. Ella Mattas and Zara Engledow each had six points. Lynn Welborn and Sophie Smith had four points. Libby McFarland finished the game with two points.
With a day’s rest, the Lady Cardinals were back on the court as they hosted the game against Hutsonville/Palestine on November 17th.
In the first quarter of the Junior Varsity match, Taylor Jones gave the Cards a 3-2 lead. In the second and final quarter, Bailey Presslor sank nine baskets, giving the Lady Cardinals a 14-2 victory.
For Chrisman, Bailey Presslor led with nine points, followed by Taylor Jones with five.
In the Varsity match, Jaidyn Alexander, Olivia Radke and Makenzie Mitchell gave the Lady Cardinals an 8-5 lead over Hut/Pal.
In the second, Hut/Pal’s Maggie Bailey, Shara Coffman, Genna Kidwell and Ginna Russell were able to give the Lady Pioneers a 19-17 lead going into halftime.
In the third, Alivia Brinkley and Makenzie Mitchell put the Lady Cardinals in the lead with a score of 34-25. The Lady Pioneers were not about to accept defeat as they battled back to tie the game 40-40 at the end of the fourth, sending the game into overtime.
The Lady Pioneers that came out on top with a final score of 42-40.
For Chrisman, Alivia Brinkley led with fifteen points, followed by Makenzie Mitchell with twelve. Brinkley also had a double double on twelve rebounds. Mitchell had five rebounds.
Jaidyn Alexander and Olivia Radke each had six points and Addison Phipps finished the game with three points.
For Hut/Pal, Ginna Russel led with fifteen points, followed by Maggie Bailey with thirteen points. Shara Coffman ended the game with six points, followed by Genna Kidwell with four. Genell Russel and Marissa Neely each had two points.
