Lady Cardinals host Martinsville in home opener

The Chrisman Lady Cardinals basketball season began with a home opener against the Martinsville Lady Bluestreaks.
The game started off uneventful, but by the game ending buzzer, fans were on the edge of their seats.
In the first quarter, Jaidyn Alexander and Taylor Jones gave the Lady Cardinals a 3-2 lead over the Bluestreaks.
In the second, Martinsville’s Jade Wilhoit sank ten, giving M-ville a 13-6 lead going into halftime.
In the third quarter, Whitnie Haton and Addison Phipps both sank three pointers, helping the Lady Cards take a 24-23 lead.
With just one point separating the teams from a season opening victory, the fourth quarter had all of the components for an edge of your seat event.
With the clock ticking away, Chrisman Coach Brandon Getche called for a time out.
The request fell on deaf ears as the Bluestreaks scored, resulting in Getche receiving a bench warning. Though the time out call was missed, the Lady Cardinals were victorious in the season opener with a final score of 38-34.
For Chrisman, Alivia Brinkley led with thirteen points, followed by Addison Phipps with eight.
Jaidyn Alexander finished the night with six points, followed by Whitnie Haton with five and Makenzie Mitchell with four.
For Martinsville, Jade Wilhoit led with an impressive twenty-two points, followed by Izzy Phillips with six and Addy Adams with five.
