The October 2022 meeting of the Priscilla Club was held at Randall Manor, a beautiful setting in the midst of harvest season. The inn was decorated with beautiful fall decorations inside and out. Hostesses were Crystal Jenkins and Trudi Brinkley. Refreshments prepared by Karen Randall were assorted fall desserts and ice cream, and the hostesses provided nuts and chocolates.
Vice President Marcia Yontz called the meeting to order, in the absence of President Carol Yaw. Marcia opened with a Halloween poem and a welcome to those attending. Minutes of the September meeting were read by Secretary Donna Taylor and were approved. Treasurer Marcella Coy reported a balance $236.01, which was approved.
Member Alice Lientz submitted a request to become an Associate Member, which was approved. Roll call, consisting of quotes on friendship was provided by Betty Lewis. These quotes were a great reminder to all of us to appreciate our old friends and be open to making new friends every day.
The program, given by Mary Marvin, was a very entertaining quiz called “Just for Fun, See if you can Onobufuscate These Familiar Old Sayings”. The quiz resulted in lots of discussion and laughter and was won, fittingly by school teacher Carolyn Heath!
Carolyn Heath and Crystal Jenkins reported on the huge success of the Welcome Center and Historical Display held during the recent Sesquicentennial Weekend. The center had such a large attendance that they opened for additional hours on Friday and Saturday of the event. The guest book from the center was buried in the Time Capsule, which will be opened in 2072.
Kay Fidler reminded all to remember the upcoming Halloween Costume Contest and Parade, as well as the house decorating contest, all held the last weekend in October.
Members attending were Marcia Yontz, Marcella Coy, Mary Marvin, Carolyn Heath, Marylou Reader, Crystal Jenkins, Betty Lewis, Donna Taylor, Dorothy Quick, Rita Hoult, Trudi Brinkley, Judy Holbert, Kay Fidler and Leslie Henry.
The next meeting will be held on November 2nd with hostesses Mary Marvin and Marcella Coy. Roll call will be given by Marylou reader and the program by Crystal Jenkins.
