Betty Beals

Betty Lou Beals, 86, of Chrisman, Illinois, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2022, at her residence. She was a retired dietary aide with Pleasant Meadows Christian Village.
She was born August 16, 1936, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of the late Alton and Goldie (Porter) Dettro.
Survivors include four children, Mitch (Kimberley) Beals, Melissa (Craig) Kindred, and Pamela (Rick) Lucas all of Chrisman, and Chad (Shay) Beals of Paris, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, Luke (Kimberly) Beals, Jake (Sierra) Beals, Ben (Linda) Rogers, Levi (Rita) Rogers, John (Katie) Rogers, Blake (Kate) Beals, Jade (Joe) Bellcourt, Justin (Amanda) Kindred, Jordan (Megan) Kindred, Jocelyn (Ryan) Grunkemeyer, Dylan Lucas, Anthony Beals, and Coby Beals; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Beals; two brothers, Jack and Roger Dettro; and three sisters, Dorothy Barnes, Maxine Lowe, and Marilyn Tegenkamp.
Mrs. Beals was a member of Chrisman United Methodist Church. She enjoyed music – the louder the better – and line dancing. She also loved sports and was proficient at keeping an accurate basketball shot chart. She was an avid reader in her spare time and cherished reading her late son, Jeff’s, Bible. Above all else, Betty treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Chrisman Public Library.
Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Woodland Cemetery in Chrisman with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Crawford officiating.
Templeton Funeral Home of Paris was in charge of arrangements.
