The first Priscilla Club meeting for the 2022-23 year was held at the beautifully decorated Randall Manor on Wednesday, September 7th, 2022. Hostesses Marcia Yontz and Mary Lou Reader greeted the fourteen members who attended.
A special dessert of “Better Than Anything” cake was basked by Innkeeper Karen Randall and served by Linda Hahn. The tables were set with lovely china and decorated in a fall theme.
The meeting was called to order by President Carol yaw, who opened with a reading titled ‘An Autumn Day’. She then red the club by-laws as a refresher to remind us all of the club’s purpose.
Secretary Donna Taylor reported that the May meeting minutes will be read at the next meeting. Treasurer Marcella Coy reported a balance of $261.01 in the treasury. Roll call was given by Caroline heath with the question, ‘How are you involved in the upcoming Sesquicentennial Celebration?’. All members are involved in some way, with several helping with multiple activities.
Special committee members involved in the historical display for the 150th Chrisman Celebration, Crystal Jenkins, Caroline Heath, Leslie Henry and Carol Yaw, reported on preparations for the historical display, to be exhibited at the Deli Building on the square.
The use of the space was donated by owner Carla Haga. Crystal displayed the signs and bow created by Carla that will mark the site, which will serve as a welcome and hospitality center. Along with historical items, provided by many in the community, history books will be on sale, as well as envelopes for the new Time Capsule, which will be buried October 1st and opened in 50 years.
History was obtained from old copies of the Chrisman Leader, many of which had to be obtained from microfilm, researched by Leslie Henry “enjoying” many hours of viewing.
The special committee spent the summer gathering items for display.
The program “Grandma’s Gloves” was presented by Kay Fidler, bringing back memories of a time when gloves were required for women in many social situations. Several club members displayed gloves worn by family members in the past.
Correspondence included a request from Mrs. Francis Brubaker, asking to become an Associate member and thank you notes from Marcia Yontz and the family of Judy Wyatt.
