The Chrisman unit of Home, Community and Education (HCE) will be sponsoring a Bake-off at the Chrisman Sesquicentennial Celebration on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Bring your baked goods to the Chrisman Christian Church Annex at 217 N. Illinois Street by 10:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to enter and there is NO entry fee.
The categories are cookies, cakes, pies and yeast breads and you are welcome to enter in each of those categories.
Judging will take place at 11:00 a.m. The judges will be Ms. Carolyn McIntyre of Tuscola and Pastor Troy Warner of Chrisman. There will be two age groups: children ages 2-18 and adults 19 and over.
There will be a 1st place with an award of $10 and a 2nd place with an award of $5 in each category of each age group.
There will be an overall champion of each age group selected with the champion of the children’s age group winning a gift card to Casey’s General Store and the adult champion winning a gift card to American Country Collections.
The winners will be announced at 4:00 p.m. on the bandstand in the city park following the parade. The baked goods will then be auctioned off on the bandstand by auctioneer Callie Baber. The money raised from this auction goes for college scholarships for Chrisman High School seniors who apply and have been active in 4-H.
Please get busy cooks and bake your favorite items to take to the bake-off and help increase the scholarship fund, while enjoying a fun and interesting event.
