Some of the greatest lessons I’ve learned about Jesus came when I served as Youth Pastor and later as Pastor traveling with the Youth. While pastoring in Ohio, I decided I wanted to be a part of a White-Water Rafting Trip.
Without a guide or someone experienced on your raft, you had no idea where you were headed. Everyone of course had to wear life jackets, and they did their best to distribute the weight of each person to your place on the boat.
I did not want to let those kids know that I was scared out of my mind. Thankfully, I was put in the back next to our guide that would tell us to go right or left, row fast or hold back.
As long as you listen and do what the guide says, your risk of flipping over is not as it would be if you failed to listen. Well, guess what, we hit raging waters and the boat was flipping back and forth and I landed in the floor of the boat on the guide’s foot. I am sure he was not happy about that. Thankfully, we did not flip. We got to where we were going and had a blast.
This is one of those blast that I am done with now. But we made it. I think the same is true with God. He is our guide. He will lead you where He wants you to go.
When you feel as if you are losing your way in life, it is a good thing to evaluate whether you are listening to his guidance or you find your life flipped over and struggling in the currents to get back into the boat.
The way we deal with the uncertainty of life says a lot about whether Jesus is leading you and, in some cases, carrying you to safety or not. Isaiah 30:21 says “Whether you turn to the right or the left, your ears will hear a voice saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Have you decided to follow Jesus? Will you go where He leads you? That is your question to answer.
There are churches all over town for you to go and they will help you to follow the best guide ever. I certainly would love to have you join us at Chrisman Christian Church.
We are not D.Q. but we make great Sunday’s. -Troy Warner, A nobody that knows somebody that everybody needs to know-Pastor Chrisman Christian
