Izzy Barrett started playing T-ball in 2014, then transitioned into softball. “I played for the Chrisman American Legion from 2015-2018,” Izzy told us. “Then the Paris Predators Travel Team from 2019-2021 and the Marshall SheCats Travel Team since 2021.”
During her time playing travel ball, Izzy’s teams have placed first in five tournaments, second twice and third once.
“I hit my first out the park home run in Evansville, Indiana at the Super Six Nit Play to Win Tournament,” Barrett said. “Our best accomplishment was winning State at The USSSA 2022 Illinois State Championships in Peoria.”
This championship was won with the Marshall SheCats Travel Team. “I like challenging myself to work harder and do better every game. I enjoy being able to travel with my softball family and meet new people.”
Currently, Barrett, who is in the seventh grade, plays on the Chrisman-Scottland Junior High Baseball team and is looking forward to playing Chrisman High School Softball in a few years. High School dreams aren’t stopping her as Izzy has already thought about her career after High School.
“I’m planning to continue to play softball throughout college,” Barrett said. “I would like to play for the University of Alabama Roll Tide and the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls.”
Being able to play third base, right field and a catcher makes her a dynamic player on the field.
Her work ethic in sports is knowing that if she continues to work hard, it will pay off. Seeing it pay off gives her the encouragement that she needs to continue.
“I love how every single player and their parent gets along and everyone – loves and cares for each other. We are a very close softball family.”
As school draws closer, Izzy’s focus will be on the baseball team until next summer. A summer that she’s already looking forward to.
“I’m looking forward to having fun and making more memories, winning more tournaments, getting more bling, hitting another home run and going to Nationals.”
