Chrisman Library News

Cookbooks are in! We received them last week and they are selling like hotcakes! Thus far we have sold over 80! And, we’re not going to lie, these cookbooks are amazing! There are over 108 pages of recipes and helpful hints! Each section’s recipes are in alphabetical order and there is an index of contributors as well as an index of recipes. There is a “key” indicating diabetic, hot & spicy, vegetarian, holiday, slow cooker, freezes well, and in memory of recipes. So, if you haven’t gotten yours yet, come on into the Library and pick up one, two, ten… Christmas is coming and these would be a great gift!
Douglas Hart Nature Center will be doing an “Off the Beaten Path” program on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 2:30 pm. It is planned for ages 4 to 10 but parents, grandparents, and caregivers are invited as well. This program will coincide with the final days of the Summer Reading Program which ends August 19, 2022.
And speaking of the Summer Reading Program, as of this writing, the children/students have read 194 books! Grades K-3 are ahead with 94 books read and grades 4-8 right behind with 90 books read! To say we are proud is an understatement! There isn’t anything a person can’t do if they know how to read!
Adult patrons, the Adult reading program is in place! And thus far, we’ve two adults who have read one book each, placed their stickers and are on their way to earning fun things! The adults will have to read five (5) books and submit their forms, just the same as the children/students (it’s only fair!), to receive their free ice cream/soft drink (one coupon per adult) to our loyal and friendly Frostop! If the adult reads ten (10) books, they will receive a gift certificate to Carla Haga’s American Country Collection Shoppe. And of course, the adults will be entered into their own raffle for a $25 Barnes and Noble gift certificate.
Here are some reading reviews by our student/children patrons and adults. Enjoy!
