The Chrisman Nite HCE (Home, Community & Education) met for their June meeting at the Chrisman Christian Church with hostess Vickie Hollingsworth.
President Vickie Hollingsworth called the meeting to order. The members recited the pledge to the American Flag and the Homemaker’s Aim. Roll call was answered by the members present stating a time when it was appropriate to display the flag. The major lesson was given by Betty Porter on Gardening.
Installation of officers was held and Betty Lewis installed the officers for the coming year. They are: President — Vickie Hollingsworth; 1st Vice president — Nancy Harper; 2nd. Vice president — Gail Pruitt; Secretary — Jenni Strebing; Treasurer — Priscilla Hunt.
Each person received a different colored carnation depicting their particular office. A discussion was held on having a booth in the city park during Chrisman Days to inform the general public about HCE.
Plans were also made for the Bake-off fundraiser that will take place on Saturday, September 10th. This contest will be open to everyone with no entry fee.
Categories will consist of cookies, cakes, pies and yeast breads. There will be two divisions, one for kids and one for adults. Monetary prizes will be given for 1st and 2nd prize in each category with one over-all grand champion in each division.
Members were asked to donate two dozen cookies each for the 4-H Bar-B-Q to be held on June 25th. The sign-up sheet for workers during the 4-H Fair was passed. A road trip was planned for August 24th.
Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess.
