Have you ever felt like you wanted to be closer to God? As if where you are right now is so far away. Have you not felt God’s presence in a while? Do you feel all alone in this world even in a crowded room? This is something we all struggle with from time to time. How long and how often depends on our attitude and outlook.
It is wonderful to be on the mountain top, where we can feel God all the time. Moses was on the mountain for a while, and he really felt the Lord’s presence. In fact, he even glowed when he came down from the mountain (Exodus 34:29-35). Moses was as close to God as one could ever hope to be.
He must have felt the Lord’s presence like no other. You see, when we are up on the mountain it is great. Who would not want to be there?
The problem with being on the mountain top, is that God does not want us there all the time. Nothing grows that high up. The soil is not fertile. Down in the valley is where He needs us, that is where the work is to be done. Even Moses was sent by God to the valley where the people were. We need to go up the mountain, to get recharged, not to stay only there. So this way when we are in the valley we can be effective. In the valley everything will grow, and bloom in its own time. This is where God needs us. When we are doing His work, surely His presence will find us!
