Ralph Edward Simpson, Sr.

Ralph Edward Simpson, Sr., 82 of Chrisman, Illinois, passed away at 3:53 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Gibson Family Center For Hospice Care in Terre Haute, Indiana. He worked at Inland Container in Newport, Indiana
Born February 17, 1940 in Casey, Illinois, he was the son of the late William R. and Margaret M. (Schick) Simpson.
He married Gloria Jean Porter October 25, 1974 in Montezuma, Indiana; she passed away February 27, 2022.
Survivors include children Bradley Simpson of Rantoul, Illinois, Eric (Star) Simpson of Mahomet, Illinois, Sheri Simpson of Champaign, Illinois, Bradley Porter of Chrisman, Bobbie (Jim) Woolbright of Mattoon, Illinois, Denise Baker of Toledo, Illinois, Angela (Clifford) Huffman of Chrisman, and Ralph (Casey) Simpson, Jr. of Chrisman; a sister Carol Ritz of Oakland, Illinois; grandchildren Joseph Totten, Michael and Danika Huffman, Jasper and Ainsley Simpson, Erika Simpson, Taylor Newman, Amy Johnson, Travis Simpson, and Amanda Grimes, Kaylee Devall, Jeremy McConnaha, Heather (Jon) Golden, Heidi Ethington, Cayla Baker, and Kassandra Baker; and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gloria; three brothers, William, Fred, and Matthew Simpson; 2 sisters, Patricia Simpson and Dorothy Smyser; and 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Jaren Porter.
Mr. Simpson attended the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene. He was employed by Inland Container in Newport, Indiana for several years.
He also helped tenant farm. He enjoyed fishing and camping, was an avid John Deere collector, and was a huge John Wayne fan.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Chrisman Nazarene Church.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Chrisman Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Cory Swinderman officiating.
Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Light-Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Scottland, Illinois. Templeton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
