Jennifer Morris
As a child, Jennifer Morris remembers her grandmother always having a camera with her.
“That’s one of the many things I loved about her,” Morris said. “Being able to capture a moment, no matter how small it seemed, in time. You never look back and regret taking the picture.”
Towards the end of 2020, Jennifer decided to dive into photography, taking pictures sporadically of family members.
“I decided it was something that I really wanted to go for.”
Morris began ‘Jennifer Morris Photography’, taking pictures of families, children and newborns. “I do maternity as well. Mainly outdoor sessions, but most newborn and colder months, I do indoor sessions.” Jennifer said. “I have a set up that I use for those. I really enjoy all of them, especially working with children.”
Just starting out, Morris tends to stick with full sessions or mini-sessions. A full session ranges from sixty to eighty pictures and a mini session normally stays around twenty to thirty minutes.
“I typically don’t put a complete cap on the amount of pictures that I edit,” Morris said. “Especially for full sessions. I like to edit as many good pictures as we get.”
For her photography, Jennifer uses a Canon EOS 80D camera and edits her photos in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. The client also has an input in the editing process.
“If they want something edited out of the picture or if they like darker tones when editing. Things like that.”
One of her favorite sessions that she has taken was one that she did with her sister in law.
“It was a maternity session and we got up super early to catch the sunrise,” Jennifer told us. “It was freezing cold and it ended up sleeting on us for a short amount of time, but it was absolutely worth it and more for the beautiful sunrise we captured.”
As the photography business continues to grow, Morris works at a dentist office in Fishers, Indiana.
Morris graduated from Chrisman High School in 2011 and went on to receive her Dental Hygiene Degree at Parkland College in Champaign, graduating in 2014.
In the future, Jennifer hopes that her photography can turn into a full-time thing.
“I enjoy it so much and it genuinely makes me happy,” Morris said. “I love that with photography all you need is one second to get a good picture. Regardless of what is happening, the minutes leading up to it, you can snap a picture and capture something so special.”
