Ben Brinkley
Chrisman native Ben Brinkley will soon be working in Indianapolis for Century 21 Scheetz as a real estate agent.
Brinkley grew up in Chrisman and was very active in the community. “I worked for Outdoor Brothers Landscaping through High School and locally led mission trips,” Brinkley said. “I participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track.”
After graduating, Ben attended Indiana State University. While attending ISU, Ben graduated as Valedictorian of the Spring Class of 2021 with a 4.0 GPA.
“I earned two majors, Criminology and Intelligence Analysis,” Brinkley said. “After graduating college, I got married in June to Elora Thomas, a Chrisman native and we decided to move to Indianapolis.”
In order to become a real estate agent, Brinkley had to complete a ninety hour pre-licensing real estate course that lasted three weeks. After completing the course, Brinkley passed the National and Indiana Real Estate exam on the first try.
After passing, he then had to complete thirty hours of continuing education with his broker company Century 21 Scheetz. “All in all, I spend over two months meeting all the education and training requirements to become a fully licensed Real Estate Broker in the state of Indiana.”
Being a people person, this was the right choice for Brinkley. It allows him to meet new people and build relationships. “Real estate transactions are oftentimes the most financially stressful situations people experience,” Brinkley said. “Having an organized and caring real estate agent is essential.”
With this job, Brinkley is licensed to buy or sell real estate in the entire state of Indiana. “I will primarily be working in the Indianapolis area,” he told us. “I will be starting out helping clients buy or sell residential homes.”
Even though he’s licensed in Indiana, Ben will be able to help people in Illinois and other states find homes. “I can find a real estate agent that can help them with their real estate transaction,” Brinkley said. “Finding the right real estate agent is imperative and I will be able to pair people with the right agent.”
Brinkley’s focus is to represent his clients, either the seller or the buyer throughout the real estate action. “I take clients on showings, write offers, hold open houses, list homes, etcetera,” Brinkley said.
“One of the most important aspects of being a Realtor is making sure you are looking out for your client’s best interest.
Real estate contracts can be extremely confusing and having an agent guide them through the process prevents unnecessary stress and financial losses.”
Going from a small town to a large city would make some homesick, but Ben and Elora aren’t too far away from their hometown.
“The plan for right now is to stay in Indianapolis. My wife and I are enjoying the big city life,” Ben said. “Chrisman is only two hours away, so we are able to come home and visit friends and family on a regular basis.”
