Chrisman will be spookier this weekend in City Park. Halloween celebrations will take place beginning at 3:30 p.m. with a Halloween parade.
Those who want to participate are to line up at the Post Office & Food Pantry parking lot. Everyone is welcome to join in golf carts, side by side’s and bicycles. Wear your favorite costume! Kids, Animals and Adults are welcome!
The Chrisman Area Community Club will host their annual costume contest at 4:00 p.m. Contestants are to enter one category. Categories are: all children age two and younger no matter what costume; Princesses & Fairies (twelve and under); Cartoon, Movie & TV Characters (twelve and under); Witches, Monsters & Ghosts (twelve and under); Groups of two or more entering as a single costume (All ages); Miscellaneous (All ages) and All contestants thirteen and older no mater what costume.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each category as well as participation awards for all contestants. The contest is sponsored by the Community Club as well as First Farmers Bank & Trust in Chrisman. Free treats will follow.
Knight Insurance will be providing free meals to all the trick or treaters and families from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Choose from either a hot dog or hamburger, chips, water and of course candy! One meal per person.
The pumpkin decorating will begin at 4:30 p.m. Bring your already decorated pumpkins. One entry per pumpkin. Groups are Cutest, Scariest, Most Original and Funniest. Winners will be awarded two tickets to Scare on the Square. The contest is sponsored by the Chrisman American Legion Post 477 Auxiliary.
Trick or Treat begins at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Trunk or Treat also will begin at 5:00 p.m. Cars are to set up on Illinois between Madison and Monroe. All vehicles decorated in the designated areas will be judged. Winner will get two free tickets to Scare on the Square donated by Eric & Anita Marvin.
Scare on the Square begins at 6:00 p.m for the younger children who would like to walk through.
The ‘Full Scare’ begins at 7:00 p.m. until everyone is through. Proceeds from the scare will benefit the Chrisman Public Library.
