I’m back! I have been under the weather with COVID, but am finally getting my strength back and feeling better. The virus sure takes a toll on a person.
Our condolences to the families of Mary Belle Majeske, Ran Phipps, Pat Boots, Earl Langford, Tony Garcia and Mike Schupp.
Congratulations to the Chrisman High School Senior Class for another eventful ghost rally. Lots of fun and many nice comments on the organization of this event.
A big ‘thank you’ to the Chrisman City Council for providing the community with good, clean, crystal-clear water. This has been long coming and such a big improvement.
We have been blessed with beautiful weather and the trees should be showing their beauty in a few days. Covered Bridge was well attended and most vendors reported record sales. It’s just nice to see people out enjoying autumn. Mowing will continue with raking leaves to follow.
We had two visitors last week who used to live in Chrisman. They were Paula and Rena Saiter, who are sisters. We always look forward to their visits as we have many laughs and shared memories. Rena lives in Ocala, Florida and Paula resides in Las Vegas. They will be returning next September for the sesquicentennial.
The sesquicentennial committee will be meeting soon to discuss further plans. I have tried to get a carnival for this event, but have not been successful. The carnivals want too much money or they will not service our area. Some are not licensed to operate in Illinois as the cost is too expensive. Any ideas of if somebody has connections with a carnival, please let me know.
Halloween is fast approaching and there will be plenty to do in Chrisman on Saturday, October 30th.
Don’t forget to visit the haunted house above the library (Scare on the Square), the trick or treating around the square and costume contest on the square. More activities are being planned.
Please support the Chrisman American Legion Auxiliary by playing bingo on the first two Saturdays of the month. Come out, have fun and win some money. The auxiliary and Legion support the community in various ways and we need to support them.
