Mary Belle Majeske, 81 of Chrisman, Illinois, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Horizon Health, Paris Community Hospital. She had worked in business and later as a housekeeper.
She was born February 24, 1940 in Edgar County, Illinois, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Caskey) Porter. She married Louis Majeske October 13, 1962 in Detroit, Michigan. He preceded her in death July 5, 2000.
Survivors include a son Lou F. (Annette) Majeske of Macomb, Michigan; three brothers, Don (Carol) Porter of Danville, Illinois, Steve (Kathy) Porter of Terre Haute, and Paul (Kathy) Porter of Paris; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Doug) Hoffman of Clinton Township, Michigan and Karen (Sean Megie) Majeske of Harrison Township, Michigan; and three great grandchildren, Chase, Collin, and Carter Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother John Porter, and one sister Nancy Clark.
Mrs. Majeske was an active member of Chrisman Nazarene Church. She was a graduate of Cambridge Business School in Detroit.
She worked in the business office of The Pontchartrain Hotel in downtown Detroit for many years. She last worked at Boxwood Health Care in Newman, Illinois. She was a volunteer at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman for many years and enjoyed all of the residents there. She dearly loved all of her family and enjoyed spending time with her cousins.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Chrisman Nazarene Church.
Visitation for Mrs. Majeske was held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Templeton Funeral Home in Paris.
Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2021 in Light Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Southeast of Scottland, Illinois.
