SMSgt Michael Cox
Chrisman native, active-duty United States Air Force (USAF) member, and Wounded Warrior, Michael Cox, was promoted to Senior Master Sergeant (E-8) effective on 1 October 2021.
The rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt) represents the top 3% of the enlisted military structure. SMSgt Cox graduated Chrisman High School in 2001 and joined the service shortly after the attacks on September 11th. He is the son of Greg and Kathy Lientz, Greg Cox, and the grandson of Jo and Larry Cox and the late Jeanne and John T. Smith. He is married to Nikki Cox of 13 years, and has three children Camden, Colton, and Nora.
In his tenure with the USAF, SMSgt Cox, has been stationed in Texas, Arizona, Florida (twice), Hawaii, Maryland (twice). He has deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Qatar as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve. In his last tour as the Operations Superintendent of the 39th Information Squadron, he oversaw the daily operations of three formal training units charged with providing intermediate offensive and defensive cyberspace warfare methodology to all ten major commands of the USAF.
For his next assignment, SMSgt Cox has been hired as the Senior Enlisted Leader of the United States Cyber Command J2 Division, headquartered at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.
