Chrisman Library News

Submitted by the Chrisman Public Library

The summer reading program is officially done and the children did a tremendous job of reading during the summer, even though they would have probably preferred to play outside, go swimming, feed their animals – anything except read and write out slips for all the books they read.
The K-3rd grade group read 97 books and the 4th – 8th group read 70 for a total of 167 books read! 7 pizza certificates and 43 ice cream/small drink certificates were given out!
Perfect for the warm summer days! The winner of the $25 Barnes and Noble gift card is Mae Rogers! She read 25 books.
Gift packs for the children will be ready for pick up so come in any time. Here are the final excerpts written by the children:
“The Saddle Club Dude Ranch – #6” by Bonnie Bryant by W. – The book is about “Kate Devine invites Carole, Stevie, and Lisa to their dude ranch, they will do cowboy-style riding. Stevie runs into a rattlesnake, and her birthday is coming up. Her friends have a surprise for her.” W’s favorite part is “When they have a surprise birthday party for Stevie.”
“Henry and Mudge and the tall Tree house” by Cynthia Rylant by E. – The book was about “when Uncle Jake came to visit and build a tree house. Henry was sad because Mudge could not climb the tree house. So Uncle Jake and Henry’s father moved the tree house to Henry’s room.” E’s favorite part is “Uncle Jake builds the tree house in an hour”.
“Officer Buckle and Gloria” by Peggy Rathmann by M. – The book was about “Gloria doing ‘triks’ behind Officer Buckle.” M’s favorite part is “When Officer Buckle was giving speeches.”
Chrisman Days are soon approaching and the Library will be having our book sale on Friday, September 10 beginning at 8am until 5pm and Saturday, September 11 beginning at 8am until…
