Submitted By Dan Moore, Chrisman Area Community Club President
Our condolences to the families of Phil Witt of Hume, Bob Norman, Dr. Kerm Frailey and Jack Bartley. We have lost several community members within the last year who will never be forgotten.
The Chrisman Area Community Club has planted a red bud tree in the southeast corner of the park in honor of Duane Fidler. Duane contributed many volunteer hours to the Chrisman community during his lifetime.
The sesquicentennial committee finally got to meet and discussed plans for the celebration of Chrisman’s 150th birthday. The celebration will be next summer on September 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th.
As of now, everything is tentative. The activities planned are: vendors, Little Miss Chrisman & Little Mister Chrisman, horse shoe tournament, kid’s tractor pull, bands, garage sales, ham and bean dinner, Jonah Fish Fry, car show, baking contest, parade, tractor pull, petting zoo, CACC sausage and pancake breakfast, cake walk, fireworks, carnival and community church services in the park with a basket dinner afterwards.
Let me know if you would like to see other events not listed.
We will be asking for volunteers to be on certain committees as this event is going to require a lot of work. I am trying to find a carnival, but most of them only service the St. Louis and Chicago area. Does anybody have connections to any carnivals?
A huge ‘Thank You’ to Eric Marvin for volunteering to paint the ‘Welcome To Chrisman’ signs at the intersection and high school. I will be trimming the evergreens within the next two weeks.
School will be starting next week so please drive safely and STOP for the stop signs on the school buses.
Wishing all students, teachers, staff and school board an awesome school year. Oh, how I miss those days! I was so fortunate to have taught in the Chrisman school district for many years and then become an administrator. Teaching is very different now with all the state mandates. Our hats off to our teachers!
