John Wright

John William Wright, 90 of Chrisman, passed away at 7:11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Paris Community Hospital, Horizon Health in Paris. He was retired from Lilly Corp. after 20 years as a machinist.
He was born March 25, 1931 in Coles County, Illinois, the son of the late Sanford Hugh and Grace (Hawkins) Wright. He married Lulu Belle Miller June 10, 1953 in Paris and she survives.
Other survivors include four children, Linda Marie (Mick) Smith of Carlinville, Illinois, Larry M. (Beth) Wright of Jensen Beach, Florida, Michael J. (Becky) Wright of Westville, Illinois, and Thomas E. Wright of Lexington, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; and five siblings, Harold Wright, Harriet Ijams, George Wright, Glenn Wright, and Charles Wright.
John was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Chrisman Christian Church, a fifty year member of the Arcola Masonic Lodge, a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #7, and a member of Chrisman American Legion Post #477. Besides working at Lilly Corp., he also had worked at USI in Tuscola. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and tinkering in the garage making wood crafts.
For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Chrisman Christian Church or the Edgar County Shrine Club.
Visitation was from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Templeton Funeral Home. Masonic services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, followed immediately by the funeral service at Templeton Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Enon Cemetery, near Ashmore.
