Rain! Rain! Go away, and let the sun shine. We have been blessed with both, but mostly rain which means the grass grows fast.
My family is now taking care of Hoult and Woodlawn Cemeteries, but due to all the rain and humidity, the grass does clump up and while mowing it, the grass sticks to the monuments.
They are doing their best and with drier weather, both cemeteries will look nice once again.
I have been asked about Chrisman Days by many citizens. Yes, we are having Chrisman Days on the first weekend after Labor Day.
Garage sales will be on Friday and Saturday with many vendors in the park. Firemen’s bean supper and car show on Friday, parade, pancake and sausage breakfast, fish fry, CACC drawing and tractor pull on Saturday. Community church service in the park on Sunday.
A full schedule will be published soon.
If you are having a garage sale and want your name on the map, please contact Lorena Hardin or Leslie Knight.
If you would like to be a vendor, please contact me at 217-269-2589. If you would like to participate in the parade on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., please register at the tent just west of Alabama Street and West Washington. There are no fees to participate. Registration will begin at 2:00 p.m.
If anybody has suggestions regarding the sesquicentennial net year, Chrisman’s 150th Birthday, please let me know.
Don’t forget to visit the farmers market in the park on Friday evenings. They usually have lots of goodies for sale.
Congratulations to Queen Haley Chaney and Queen Kaydence McConkey.
You both represented Edgar County very well!
