Ty Woodyard
YouTube is good for a number of things, but for Ty Woodyard it sparked his business venture.
After watching a few videos of car detailing, at the age of fifteen, he decided what he wanted to do.
“I was too young,” Woodyard told us. “I didn’t have my license yet and I really wanted to start making money, so I started detailing cars in my driveway.”
A little over a year ago, he began with just a small pressure washer, a green bucket, soap from Napa, a washrag and two microfiber towels.
“Now, I have hundreds of microfiber towels,” Woodyard laughed.
He buys everything in bulk to be sure not to run out.
Since his business has grown, he was able to purchase an extractor and a steam cleaner.
“I’m looking at buying double of everything because I have two kids helping me out.”
For any questions that he has, Ty has been able to connect with others who detail cars on Facebook.
Woodyard used to help a carpenter in Paris, but quit to do detailing full time.
“I haven’t regretted it at all,” he said.
Business has been so good that he’s been booked up all summer.
His work includes interior cleaning (basic and detailed), exterior washes, paint correction and ceramic coating.
“I’ll work with a customer on their budget. A high paying customer will want everything done and I do everything.
A low paying customer will be on a budget and can’t afford to have everything extracted, so I’ll spot clean on the visible spots that need it,” Woodyard said.
